Purchasing & Inventory Manager

Pay Rate: $38–$40 per hour
Location: Louisville, KY (Onsite)

Snelling is seeking an experienced Purchasing & Inventory Manager to support a growing Inside Sales and Logistics operation in Louisville, KY. This role is responsible for overseeing purchasing, inventory coordination, freight and logistics management, and import/export compliance while supporting inside sales order processes. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead purchasing, inventory, and logistics activities to ensure timely, accurate, and cost-effective movement of goods

  • Manage purchase orders and sales orders within the Transportation Management System (TMS)

  • Coordinate domestic and international freight, including import/export shipments and bonded freight

  • Maintain relationships with customs brokers, carriers, and freight partners

  • Oversee freight cost management, maintain rate databases, and identify cost-saving opportunities

  • Manage tariff costs and ensure compliance with U.S. import/export regulations

  • Prepare, review, and validate machine invoicing packets, ensuring audit and compliance standards are met

  • Support backlog, sales, and S&OP reporting activities

  • Ensure accuracy and compliance in all logistics, financial, and customs documentation

  • Assist with inside sales order processing as needed

  • Resolve customer inquiries and logistics-related issues promptly and professionally

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, suppliers, and external partners


Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in purchasing, logistics, supply chain, or transportation coordination

  • Strong understanding of international shipping, import/export documentation, and compliance requirements

  • Experience with freight cost analysis and cost control

  • High attention to detail with strong documentation and reporting accuracy

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and logistics or ERP systems

  • High energy, self-motivated, and results-driven mindset

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times


Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Minimum of 2 years of administrative or logistics experience in an office environment

  • Experience supporting sales-based or customer-driven organizations

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to multitask, organize work independently, and work well with cross-functional teams


Preferred Qualifications:

  • College degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience

  • Experience in international manufacturing, import/export, or heavy equipment logistics

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
