Sales/Business Development

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Sales Manager is responsible for building new business and managing existing business in a manner consistent with maximizing profits and maintaining positive customer relationships.  The successful Sales Manager will operate as a team player, furthering the goals of the company as a whole and co-workers individually.      

Pay: 90K+

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:

1.  New Business Development

a.     Identify prospective customers

b.     Plan and execute sales strategies through written and oral communication

c.     Maintain thorough understanding of services, market, and competition

d.     Identify new opportunities for growth

e.     Prepare annual forecast of new business

f.     Set and achieve challenging sales goals

     

2.  Proposal & Bid Package Preparation

     a.    Identify the labor, material, subcontractor, and related requirements of prospective projects; ensure that the scope of work complies with all relevant local, State, and Federal requirements

b.  Calculate total project price on either lump sum, not-to-exceed, or T&M basis

c.   Accurately forecast project profitability based on a thorough knowledge of job costs; manage threats to profitability in order to mitigate profit reduction

d.  Prepare written proposals, statement of qualifications, and/or other bid-related documents

e.    Negotiate with the prospective customer, as necessary, to close the sale

 

3.   Account Management                                        

      a.    Maintain successful business relationships with accounts as assigned

b.   Work with field and other support staff to ensure projects are successfully executed, complying with all relevant local, State, and Federal agency laws & regulations

      c.   Ensure all reports and other customer deliverables are prepared & submitted

      d.   Identify new opportunities with existing customers to increase revenue

      e.   Prepare annual forecast of sales associated with existing customers

 

4.   Administration

  1. Prepare reports, presentations, etc. to convey sales and business development activities to stakeholders
  2. Inform senior management of significant issues and opportunities
  3. Prepare sales budget and department expense budget

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A bachelor’s degree in business, sales & marketing, environmental sciences, or a related relevant field preferred.  A combination of education, training, and experience may be substituted when competency in the role is demonstrated.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to those who are able to perform the essential duties of the job.  The incumbent must be able to pass any required drug test, background check, and new hire physical examination.  The incumbent must be able to maintain complete confidentiality of any information s/he encounters.

 

SPECIALIZED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Willingness to operate as part of team; has rapport-building skills; is supportive of co-workers
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication (verbal and nonverbal) skills
  • Strong organizational skills; able to prioritize, plan, and execute work efficiently
  • Industry-specific knowledge or certifications in asbestos, lead, and mold abatement
