Job Description:

Snelling has an immediate opening for a Quality Inspector in Louisville, KY. This position will be responsible for the quality of product coming through both the shop and warehouse ensuring the product gets inspected at specified hold points prior to moving to the next production phase. As a team, ensuring/verifying all activities performed on the product meets or exceeds engineering and ASME code requirements. After inspections are performed, moving all test data to the appropriate location, and communicating the results throughout the organization. The Quality Inspector should be able to work independently and demonstrate a proactive, problem-solving attitude. Job duties include:

  • Visual and dimensional inspection of incoming new product
  • Visual and dimensional inspection of inhouse weldments and assemblies
  • Notifying production of acceptance/rejection of in process and completed product
  • Generating non-conformance reports
  • Verify material test reports against ASME code and engineering design requirements
  • Retaining both physical and digital test reports for use in data books
  • Compile data books using product test reports
  • Work with management and other departments to discuss product quality concerns

Quality Inspector Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
  • Standing for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50LBS
  • Working closely with others
  • Communicate with third party Inspectors and suppliers
  • Participate in our safety program and wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel toes, etc.)
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions
  • Valid driver’s license is a must

Quality Inspector Skills:

  • Read and understand engineering blueprints
  • Ability to use inspection tools (micrometer, caliper, tape measurer, hardness tester, etc.)
  • Good communication skills, both email and verbal
  • Ability to safely work in a manufacturing environment
  • Attention to detail is critical
  • ASME section VIII Div. I knowledge is a plus
  • Welding and metal fabrication knowledge is a plus
